About Me

My name is Marla and I am a crafter.  I live in Connecticut with my husband, crazy beagle and 2 cats.  I’m an avid reader and listener of audiobooks.  I watch way too much TV for my own good.  It’s so bad that I have a Google calendar set up so I know when my shows start.

I have been crafting since I was a little girl.  My mom used to take me into the now defunct Rag Shop and let me pick out what I wanted to try.  She always tried to push cross stitch on me, but I never had the patience for it.  I found that I liked the crafts that involved a glue gun much better.  While other girls were playing with dolls, I was playing with a glue gun.

As I got older, I wanted to relearn to knit.  My grandmother did teach me how to knit and crochet, but I couldn’t remember how to cast on and I could only crochet a chain stitch.   I took the Stitch and Bitch book out of the library and re-taught myself to knit.  Since I started knitting, I have made socks, sweaters and countless scarves.  I run castingon.net and can be found on Ravelry as casting on.

Now that I’m a homeowner, I’m always looking for new decorating ideas especially ones that look expensive, but do not have a lot of out of pocket costs.  I’ve started trying my hand at furniture refinishing.  It’s mostly small projects right now, but I’m making baby steps towards bigger ones.

Thanks for stopping by and keep on crafting!
